Our Instructors

TCLoc instructors are all professionals or academics in fields related to technical communication and localization. Like our students, they come from all over the world and add to TCloc’s international dynamic. Bringing to the program their experience in the industry today, TCLoc instructors provide current and essential instruction to our students.

Raymond Culp is a trainer for TCTrainNet, an international online training platform.

He advises and informs particpants about the content of the online training courses. His involvement in technical communication began in 1997 when he became a technical writer for an international manufacturer of mobility products and other patient aids. His experience includes the creation of instructional material targeting end users and service technicians, translation management, analysis and optimization of information structures and processes, and software development. In 2011, he started his own business in the areas of technical communication consultation, translation management and software development.

Alex Zekakis holds a BSc in Information Management from the International Hellenic University.

He was first a localization project manager on the service provider side. He then moved into different roles, initially leading production teams and then focusing on delivering strategic solutions. Throughout this time, he has always had an active presence in localization-related conferences around the globe, where he delivered engaging presentations and continually addresses advanced industry topics. Alex now holds the role of European solutions architect manager at XTM International where he leads a remote team that is primarily focused on supporting presales activities.

After studying at the University of Bath in the UK, he completed the CAWEB master’s program at the University of Strasbourg in 2014. He also teaches for both the CAWEB and the TCLoc master’s degrees.

Uta Seewald-Heeg is a professor of computational linguistics and software localization at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen, Germany.

She studied romance studies, computational lingusitics, history and computer science at the universities of Hannover, Lille and Paris VII. She now manages the Professional Communication – Software Localization bachelor’s degree program and the Software Localization master’s degree program at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. In her research, she focuses on translation and localization technology. In addition to terminology management, CAT technology, and machine translation, she also teaches post-editing techniques.

He works as the Sales & Marketing Manager for Wordfast and runs a small translation business, ApexTra, in France. He is a member of the French Association of Professional Translators and has an MA in Translation and Localization Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). John is a certified trainer for adult education and has been offering professional training for translators since 2006. He has taught more than 500 translators how to use CAT tools and manage their time and translation projects.

He was president of the German Association for Terminology (Deutscher Terminologie-Tag / DTT). Mark has given over 500 lectures and seminars on terminology management to technical writers, translators, and universities. He has written articles on terminology work for publications including MultiLingual and eDITion, the journal of the DTT.

Konrad Brust has been working as a translator (English–German) and software developer, eventually finding his niche in the synthesis: software localization.

Along the way, he studied software localization at the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen, Germany, and had a lengthy affair with physics at Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena. Within localization, his main interests lie in intersections of technical and creative writing (specifically in game localization) and finding harmonized solutions for problems of adjacent fields. In 2020, Konrad started teaching localization and English language at the University of Strasbourg and Anhalt University, having previously appeared as a substitute in these positions.
