I am an award-winning technical communicator (OTAA award by IBM) and a published author.

..

I began as a professional in media and eventually found my share of the sky in technical writing. I’ve presented at the STC India Annual Conference 2015 and TWT Gurajat regional conferences in 2023 and 2024. You may find my books, ‘The Write Stride – A Conversation with Your Writing Self’ and ‘The Dogfight and the Lone Peacekeeper’ on Amazon. I have also contributed over 70 poems to poetry anthologies. In my free time, I blog on my website, share answers on Quora—now, over 400 answers, phew!—and try different inks in my cherished fountain pens. Translation isn’t new to me, but translation tools are. Through this course, I look forward to learning the nitty-gritty of the translation process. I also wish to implement the learning to smoothen any wrinkles in the translation process at my current organization.

I am originally from Canada, but I have been living in Switzerland for the last 13 years.

..

My mother tongue is French, but I now work in English. I also have a decent level of German. I have a strong scientific background: a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in physics, and a doctorate in engineering. In the past, I have done scientific research and worked for a technical software company where I did testing, documentation, and customer support. Two years ago, I reoriented myself as a technical writer. I love this new career, but I feel that “learning-on-the-job” is not sufficient anymore. I am looking forward to adding some background knowledge to my hands-on experience, thanks to the TCLoc program.

My name is Stefania. I was born in Romania, but I have lived most of my life in Spain and recently moved to Belgium.

..

I speak fluent Spanish, English, and Romanian, and I am learning French. I took my first steps in the communication and translation field in 2008, working as a project manager for 8 years. Since 2016, I have focused on technical documentation, working as a technical writer and editor for different types of companies, from well known organizations such as NATO and the EU Commission to IT software companies. I enrolled in TCLoc because I think it will consolidate my knowledge and skills as it covers a variety of subjects including localization, communication, web languages, and project management.

I have recently overseen my work being localised for the first time, catering to an increasingly international audience. I have recently graduated from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and am hoping to build on my strengths of technical writing, graphic design, and marketing. In particular, I’m hoping to learn much more about localisation, and project management, and to generally improve my knowledge and skills in technical communication.

Born and raised in Germany, I spent several years abroad in the US, Belgium, Austria and Spain.

..

After graduating with a degree in Translation Studies from the University of Vienna, I worked as a freelance translator for almost nine years. In 2016, I joined Shore GmbH, a SaaS company based in Munich, managing product localization and other internal translation requests. I also support our marketing, support and UX teams with content creation. I hope that the TCLoc Master will help me become more proficient in developing engaging technical content area and take my career to the next level by strengthening my skills in technical communication, web technologies, and project management.
