Tekom and tekom certifications

What Is tekom Europe?

Tekom Europe is the world’s largest professional association for technical communication. Founded in Germany in 1978, it has grown into a global network of more than 9,500 professionals working in technical writing, and global content development.

Today, tekom Europe plays a central role in shaping the technical communication industry by providing internationally recognized certification programs, professional training, and access to global best practices.

Whether you plan to work in Europe or internationally, tekom certifications are widely
recognized by employers in technical communication, localization, and related fields.

Why combining a tekom certification and the TCLoc
Master’s Degree?

tekom and TCLoc

As a TCLoc partner, tekom Europe offers our students access to TCTrainNet, an international online training and certification program. This program leads to the “Technical Communicator (tekom) — Professional Level” certification. The certification is also accredited by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators (ISTC), confirming that TCTrainNet reflects current best practices and meets internationally recognized standards.

This partnership provides not only additional learning resources but also enhances the global recognition of the TCLoc master’s program. As a result, graduates benefit from a certification that is widely acknowledged in the field of technical communication, wherever they choose to work.

Students enrolled in the TCLoc Master’s program have the option to replace approximately 120 hours of coursework with the TCTrainNet certification program. This option is not mandatory, but it is available to TCLoc students at a significantly reduced fee. Successful completion leads to the “Technical Communicator (tekom) – Professional Level” certificate.

Obtaining this certification equips students with a solid understanding of the core principles of technical communication, as well as a globally recognized, certified skill set that can serve as a strong foundation for their professional careers.
